Supplement Giveaway!

Do you know why it is important to take a supplement?

I heard a statistic, which I can't seem to find again, and I don't know the validity of it but it's food for thought none the less. Also, it came from a valuable source so I believe there is a lot of truth, even if the numbers aren't exact.

It was something to the effect of; You would have to eat 68 peaches today, to get the same nutritional content in 1 peach 50 years ago! Isn't that mind boggling, crazy! The reasons being:
the soil isn't as fertile
the farming practices aren't as natural
fruit is not left to ripen on the trees anymore
the turnover of the crop land is much quicker
all the handling
travel time
And on and on and on...

So, even if you are eating your fresh fruits and veggies, you just aren't getting enough. Period.

You need a good multi-vitamin to "supplement" the healthy whole foods you are eating. It's not really an option anymore, your body won't get what it needs without it.

I am really passionate about this.....

So... I am hosting a GIVEAWAY! My first one ever and I'm excited about it.
These nutritional chews I often throw in my son's lunch. They are nutrient packed and full of fruits and veggies that he doesn't have time to always eat at school.

My children love these. They beg for them. They get one a day, simply because they are expensive and they are considered a "treat." We don't use the term "treat" lightly around here.

Mannatech's products are all derived from real food sources. They are not synthetic. They are made from real food. They make up for the extra nutrients that unfortunately we aren't getting in our produce anymore.

So, here is the scoop. To enter the giveaway leave a comment telling me something you have learned from this blog. I want to know what the readers want to hear.

Also, those of you who have followed my blog from the beginning get an extra entry, automatically. I know who you are :)
If you aren't a follower, then become one :) please.

The GIVEAWAY entries will close on Friday February 10th so you have until then to post your comment and enter the drawing.
I will announce the winner on Friday, whenever I get to it.

Good luck!
And if you don't want to risk not winning come see me and I can order you some really beneficial supplements :)

  1. I never really washed my produce before I read your post about it, I know how gross of me! But now I do your vinegar trick every time I bring produce home and it is AMAZING how many grodies are in the bottom of my wash bowl!

  2. I have learned a lot from you and your blog! The one main thing is how great coconut oil is! So healthy and we love it! Thank you and please more recipes;)

  3. I love everything! My favorite is probably the recipes, your so good at making ordinary recipes healthy & still taste delicious. I also like to read about the things you do for & give your kids to increase their health so I can try to do the same in our home. Thanks Andrea!

  4. Hmmm...I'm gonna have to agree that I like the recipes. :)

  5. I like the recipes too. I also started washing my produce with vinegar/water. I have learned how to efficiently separate Pomegranite seeds (or maybe that was on your other blog), and I learned about how much better apples are for you when they are in season.

  6. It's all great. I love all that I've been learning from your random tips...even as simple as the best ketchup to buy. And one day (when I'm not working full-time on top of building a house in every other spare moment) I'm going to tackle all of these healthy delicious recipes.

While I'm at it, I thought I'd ask a few questions I've been pondering since reading your blog.

FIRST: It has been interesting to read about the supplements and vitamins you've posted, but where do I start? I take a basic multi-vitamin daily, but it sounds you like you take a lot more than that. How many do you take daily? How many a day do your kids take? Do you have your favorite, standard, indispensable 2-3 supplements that you can't live without, so to speak?

SECOND: What is your opinion about immunizations? After reading about what you had to say about flu shot, I was just wondering where you stand in this debate. I hear of parents who refuse to give their kids certain vaccinations because of possible scary side effects. Then others argue they are imperative and have made certain diseases all but disappear. Thoughts?

  7. A few things. I've bought the organic coconut oil at Trader Joes and use it ALL THE TIME. I've also started giving my kids a Tbls. of fish oil every day. Because I want my kids to learn by my positive examples I also take a Tbls. of fish oil with them!
Something I would like to learn more about is....what do you pack in your kiddos school lunch? Thankfully, my girl loves fresh cut up veggies and asks for a tupperware dish of salad to be packed. She also loves granola bars, fruit snack and all those other fun pre-packaged snack items that all the other kids have. I try to balance it out, but am curious what ideas you might have.

  8. This deleted my original comment grrr haha. Anyways i learn something every time I visit your blog. I love how knowledgable you are and if you don't know something, you research it. I've appreciated you answering my questions and taking the time to share your talents with the world!! I was going to say coconut oil like some of the others, but I'll say my favorite thing I've learned anout is the barleans fish oil omega swirls. Love them, can't say enough about them. I've shared them with friends and family and nobody believes how good they a until they try it!! I have four bottles, so far my favorite is peach mango...but piña Coloda is rather tasty as well.

  9. I'm going to have to say the recipes. I keep an eye on your blog to see what new recipes I can try out on my family.

  10. I like recipes, and I hope I win!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
